Dec. 31st Deadline Looms On U.S. Mandate In Iraq

The UN mandate under which the U.S. has occupied Iraq expires on Dec. 31st, and the inability to reach agreement on U.S. troops’ immunity has left the Iraqi and U.S. governments stymied. (Washington Post) Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki wants Parliament’s approval of any deal.
