Microsoft, Adobe Rev Rival Web App Platforms

Adobe released Astro, a major update to its Flash technology and a major component of its strategy for Flex, its Web-based application development framework.

Microsoft, which just released version 2.0 of Silverlight, plans to release a mobile version - including one for the iPhone if Apple ever allows third-party plug-ins. (InformationWeek)

It may also release a plug-in for Google’s Android operating system, according to a spokesman

Adobe, which developed Flash Lite for mobile devices, has also been pressuring Apple to support such third-party plug-ins for the iPhone.
