Credit Card Charge-Offs Surge 48% in August
Moody’s Investor Service said that credit card charge-offs, or loans written off as not being repaid, surged 48% year-over-year to 6.82% in August. The research firm said charge-offs could rise to 8.5% in 2009, surpassing peak rates seen during past recessions. (BusinessWeek)
